The Suunto Elite Team Announces its Athlete Selections for 2020

OGDEN, Utah (January 23, 2020) – Suunto, a global leader in sports watches, dive computers and precision instruments, announces the selection of its athlete team for the 2020 competition season. The Suunto Elite Team, formerly the Suunto Multisport Team, will be comprised of 50 elite athletes and coaches pushing the boundaries of endurance sports.

“We had a phenomenal first season with our team in 2019. Between exciting podium finishes, testing out new ultrarunning distances and setting FKTs in the mountains, our athletes went above and beyond to engage their communities and push their limits,” said Caleb Whittle, marketing manager for Suunto in the Americas. “We are so proud of all of their accomplishments and are excited to continue supporting them as they reach new heights in 2020.”

In its second year, the Suunto Elite Team will continue supporting the growing endurance community through the adventure, passion and pursuit of sport. The group of athletes joins many disciplines into one unified program and includes triathletes, cyclists, runners, climbers and swimmers. The 2020 roster sees the exciting additions of athletes like Tahoe 200 ultramarathon winner and course record holder Kyle Curtin, as well as 70.3 IRONMAN champion Tim Rea.

In addition to the Elite Team, Suunto will also continue to support the Suunto Squad and Suunto Factory Team, which are comprised of athletes across ability levels who align with the brand’s values and who will represent the brand as community ambassadors.

The Suunto Elite Team will outfit its roster with complete athlete kits and will offer significant support via event activations, social media coverage, creative content and a team training camp located in Saint George, Utah. Suunto Elite Team members will also receive the new Suunto 9 Baro, the industry-leading and award-winning GPS multisport watch of record. The watch’s 120-hour battery life in GPS mode, wrist-based heartrate and 80+ sport modes make it an ideal tool for training and racing.

New brand partners for the 2020 Suunto Elite Team include ROKA, Cuore Run Apparel, Kask Helmets, AMP Human and Inside Tracker adding to the already great list of returning partners including ENVE, Castelli, Nuun, Shimano, Stages, BOCO Gear, among others.
