Vibram Litebase Gains Traction in 2019

July 17, 2018

Also in the line-up for next Spring: collaborations with Patagonia, Merrell, and Arbor Boards

CONCORD, Mass. (July 16, 2018) – Vibram, the worldwide leader in high-performance soles and creator of the Vibram FiveFingers articulated toe shoe, today announces its Spring 2019 collection, including new adoptions of Vibram’s Litebase technology. Litebase reduces sole thickness up to 50 percent and weight up to 30 percent while maintaining all performance attributes.

Vibram’s new Litebase partners feature Vasque’s Breeze Lite series, which offers a lightweight hiking boot in two models. Both waterproof, the Breeze LT GTX and the lower cut model, the Breeze LT LOW GTX are built to optimize performance for distance hiking by shaving weight without compromising quality. The Litebase outsole cuts weight without forfeiting the grip, durability, and stability Vibram compounds are known for. Other brands adopting Litebase for Spring ‘19 in North America include Dynafit, Scarpa, Lowa and Mammut.

“Litebase is for peak performance, because every ounce counts,” says Lawrence Anastasi, Director of Sales at Vibram Corporation. “Just as Megagrip has been embraced by running and hiking brands, we expect to see Litebase take off in these categories, as well. Athletes are pushing new limits every day, and our lightweight technology can help them reach their goals.”

In addition to the Litebase launch, Vibram is excited to feature the following new products for Spring 2019 in the Vibram booth at this summer’s Outdoor Retailer show:

The Patagonia x Danner Foot Tractor and Salt River Wading Boot:

New for Spring ‘19, Vibram is excited to partner with Patagonia and Danner for the Foot Tractor and River Salt Wading Boots with Megagrip and Idrogrip. The wading boots combine Danner’s craftsmanship with Patagonia’s creative design and Vibram’s advanced grip technology.

The Merrell Gridway with EcoDura:

New from Merrell in the Spring 2019 lineup, the Gridway collection boasts a sole made with Vibram EcoDura, which contains 30% recycled material and maintains Vibram standards for grip and durability. The Gridwaycollection aims to be a sustainably manufactured footwear line for active lifestyle. In addition to the Vibram EcoDura outsole, the collection features 100% recycled fabric upper and laces, uses EVA midsoles made with 30% recycled content from manufacturing scraps, and up to 50% recycled materials in the removable EVA footbed.

Vibram INVRS:

Introducing Vibram INVRS, a durable, protective top-mounted rubber padding for boards sports. INVRS SURF is a lightweight EVA and rubber top sheet for balance & grip and is soft under foot. INVRS SKATE is an abrasion-resistant rubber top sheet made with 30% post-consumer recycled content. Arbor Boards will be the first adopter and will display boards in the Vibram booth. INVRS RIDE is an expanded, lightweight top sheet for snowboards. It disperses snow & ice and enhances grip.

FiveFingers V-Trail 2.0:

For Spring 19, Vibram updates a popular FiveFingers style with the V-Trail 2.0. The update features Vibram Megagrip and a durable, 3D Cocoon mesh upper that helps disperse impact and offers additional protection from sharper objects on the trail. The style will be available online and in select stores Spring 2019.

These new products and many more will be on display at Vibram’s booth (49119-UL) at the Outdoor Retailer show July 23-26th in Denver, Colorado. Additional information can also be found online at us.vibram.com.
