Sweet Protection launches Award Winning Selection of Winter Optics

September 17, 2019

Sweet Protection, the industry leader in high-performance helmets, goggles and technical clothing announced today that its three lines of award-winning and revolutionary eyewear are now available for sale direct to consumers via the company’s website at www.sweetprotection.com.

Following nearly 20 years of emphasizing extreme precision and accuracy that made the company a growing market leader in helmets, Sweet Protection launched its first-ever collection of performance goggles to much fanfare for Winter 2019. The company picked up Gear Institute’s Best New Gear award at the Outdoor Retailer Winter showcase in Denver in January 2019, as well as a Showstopper Award from Ski Magazine and a Best of Outdoor Retailer nod from The Adventure Podcast.

“As a professional athlete, I ask a lot of the gear that I use. I like to have the best possible equipment and tools at my disposal at all times, which is why Sweet Protection fits perfectly into my gear program,” said two-time World Extreme Skiing Champion Chris Davenport, one of the premier big mountain skiers in the world. “Sweet Protection goggles are the perfect combination of fit, style, and tech. The fit on my face and the wide field of view is imperative, and the incredible RIG lens tech gives me the best possible visibility in all light conditions. The goggles also breath well, so no dealing with fogging issues.”

Sweet Protection worked closely with the best designers in the world and brought 2018 Olympic gold medal-winning alpinist Aksel Lund Svindal to the table while developing the concepts for their revolutionary eyewear. The result is three different lines of goggles – Interstellar, Clockwork, and Firewall.

The Interstellar line is Sweet Protection’s badass free-ride goggle, while the Clockwork was developed in collaboration with Svindal and is designed for racing. The Firewall is a versatile model for all-mountain purposes. The Interstellar and Clockwork goggles utilize groundbreaking Gore technology, which creates a lens that will not distort under pressure differences when changing altitude rapidly.

All three lines of goggles were also developed with cutting-edge RIG technology to enhance the contrasts on the mountain when skiing or riding. RIG stands for Retina Illumination Grading, and the technology helps skiers better deal with changes in light and visibility on the mountain and better perceive their surroundings. As a result, skiers can go faster down the mountain, and with more confidence than ever before.

The Interstellar and Clockwork lines also boast the first sculpted toric goggle lens in the world. These extremely strong and rigid lenses provide superior optical properties with minimum distortion while providing extreme impact resistance.

“If you spend enough time in the mountains, you realize that conditions change, and sometimes fast. So I need a goggle lens that can adapt and work in many light conditions,” said Davenport. “The Sweet Protection RIG lenses do just that. They offer incredible clarity, range of view, and sharpness, especially when the light gets bad.”
